EPISODE 1 – The Balmore Man
Welcome to Jigsaw – the brand new series from the makers of The Missing. Brought to you with Locate International.
Jigsaw invites you to help pull together the pieces on an on-going case. There are more than 1,000 unidentified bodies in the UK. All of them will be mothers or fathers, daughters or sons. Their lives cut short – but without an ending. Can you help reunite these people with their name?
This week we tell the story of The Balmore Man – discovered in Scotland, with several clues which might help to identify him. Can you make sense of why he was in the area? What about the injuries he had sustained? The clothing he was wearing? Or the possessions found in his bag?
If you want to contribute to the search, and join the discussion, Locate International have set up a online forum. Visit forum.locate.international and share your ideas and theories with real investigators and fellow listeners.
EPISODE 2 – The St Helier Woman
In this episode of Jigsaw – we shine the light on The St Helier Woman – discovered outside a hospital in London, seriously ill, but with nothing to identify her. Who brought her to the hospital? How did she get here? And what had made her sick?
This is a story with multiple clues… investigators have been able to identify where she came from, a likelihood of where she was going, and even a NAME. But still – the identity of the woman is unknown. Can you help?
EPISODE 3 – Dave The Busker
In this episode of Jigsaw – we explore the puzzling case of Dave The Busker – a man found buried in a residential garden in Galway. It’s a case with multiple clues, and various pieces of evidence which investigators hope could lead to his identification. And, unusually for this series, the man already has part of his name… ‘Dave’. Can you help complete the Jigsaw, and bring these clues together?
EPISODE 4 – The River Lune Man
When a body is found on the salt marshes on the River Lune estuary, in 2015, there are many questions which begin to be asked. Who is he? How did he arrive here? How long has he been here?
While those questions continue to be asked today – there are other questions too… Why was he carrying clippings from a magazine published more than a decade earlier? And did some scribblings in his possession indicate some kind of code, or secret message?
The mystery of The River Lune man has remained unsolved for nearly ten years. But investigators believe that the many clues found on his person could lead to him being identified. Do you recognise his clothing? Do you know anything about how or why a body might arrive here? And can you make sense of the items found on his person?
EPISODE 5 – The Waltham Forest Man
When a man is struck by a car and killed, in front of on-lookers, it’s assumed that within a few hours his next of kin will be informed.
But in this case – police are unable to work out who the man might be. They receive a possible address… discover that he’s a regular in one of the local pubs, and even recover a mobile phone from his pocket. The police are even provided a name for their mystery man, and a recent photograph of him. And yet – no loved ones, no friends or family, are located.
EPISODE 6 – The Mile End Man
With every unidentified body there are some clues which point towards possible answers. All too often these can lead to questions, was the person employed, were they perhaps living rough, or alone. But then there are cases which carry multiple surprises. Even though the Mile End Man died more than half a century ago – there are clues in his case which investigators believe could provide answers.
As you listen to this episode, think about whether you can provide the missing link, which can help to identify him. Will you recognise his possessions? Or perhaps his clothing? Perhaps you have links to the areas of London it’s thought he frequented. A middle aged, handsome and well-dressed man who suffered an early death – and whose story is still not complete.
EPISODE 7 – The Baldock Woman
In this episode, many of the clues have already been unearthed… but the mystery remains. Can you help put these pieces of the Jigsaw together?
We have a young woman, likely to be French. And we have a name, which could have several different spellings. We have locations, friends, and even the name of someone she used to stay with.
And yet – a woman found dead on the A1 motorway near Baldock is still unidentified. Someone, somewhere is likely wondering what happened to her. Perhaps they are actively searching for their missing friend or loved one.
EPISODE 8 – The Bakewell Man
This weeks episode centres on the Derbyshire town of Bakewell. It was there, in 1977, that a man was found deceased inside the building site of a new property. Despite the time that has passed, there remains hope that the items on his person could lead to someone being able to identify him. Could you help join the dots, between a concert ticket, some travel plans, a small town in Scotland and the Derbyshire countryside which proved to be this mans final resting place?
